Laser Applications for Dental Hygiene

Track 10: Laser applications for dental hygiene

The application of laser dentistry are disinfection of the periodontal pocket, great haemostasis, decreased healing time and reduced use of anesthesia. The light energy that is emitted from lasers results in a shortened and almost painless healing period. Laser dentistry offers a much less invasive alternative to many procedures. In case of a medically compromised patient, such as one taking anticoagulants, the use of a laser may be an advantantage due to the reduced chance of bleeding.
